Tell us about your organisation

CORDE is a leading construction, infrastructure, and maintenance contract company delivering high quality services across the South Island. With a strong focus on sustainability, innovation, and community impact, CORDE specialises in civil construction, parks and reserves maintenance, resource recovery, roading, and infrastructure projects. Our experienced team is committed to excellence, safety, and environmental responsibility. Why did you want to join WasteMINZ? 

We joined WasteMINZ to connect with industry leaders, access valuable resources, and contribute to sustainable waste management practices in New Zealand. What topic/issue are you most passionate about when it comes to waste,resource recovery or contaminated land?

We are passionate about advancing resource recovery and circular economy solutions to minimise waste and maximise reuse. Our focus is on practical, innovative approaches to divert materials from landfill, enhance recycling systems, and improve community engagement in sustainable waste management. Through our work in our reuse shop and infrastructure maintenance, we aim to create long term environmental and economic benefits. By integrating smart recovery strategies, we can reduce waste, conserve resources, and help build a more sustainable future for New Zealand.

What are you reading or listening to right now?

Right now, I am listening to the audio book Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Wall Kimmerer, an insightful book on Indigenous wisdom, ecology, and our relationship with nature.

Describe your perfect day outside of work

My perfect day starts with a morning mountain bike ride, hitting the trails for a mix of challenge and adrenaline. After that, I would spend the rest of the day with my family of five exploring the outdoors, having a picnic, or just enjoying each other’s company.
